SAITO TOMONARI
This application is a sample design created as part of the Google certification program.
This chat service uses AI to help you learn English conversation on your own. Unlike regular English conversation lessons, there is no need to meet face-to-face with a person.
My role
UX designer designing this app from conception to delivery.
Responsibilities
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs and responsive design
Project goal
By offering AI-based English conversation lessons, anyone will be able to give English conversation lessons at any time at a low cost.
Persona
Kim is a busy engineer who needs to improve his English conversation skills because he uses English in the office.
Mobile app design
In light of the current situation, I started the design with a mobile app and expanded it to a desktop Web screen.
Low-fidelity prototype
Usability study
I conducted a usability study on four people.
Nationality: Japanese
Method: Remote
Length: 20-30min
Findings
Mobile app mock up
The display portion of the analysis parameters on the results screen is mistaken for a button.
Therefore, I eliminated the frame and made it clear that it wasn't a button.
When starting a chat, you tap the button under "Chat theme," but the term "Chat theme" was difficult to understand. Therefore, the word "Chat theme" was replaced with the more direct word "Lesson”.
Final design
Responsive Design
Based on the mobile app design, I created a responsive design intended for web services.
